The Liminal Space is a multidisciplinary piece that explores transformation, connection and the spaces that exist between certainty and the unknown. Developed in 2026, the piece reflects on moments of transition, considering how growth often emerges through change rather than despite it. Through sculpture, the work invites reflection on resilience, hope and the quiet act of trusting oneself to move forward.

At the centre of the project is a welded steel sculpture constructed entirely from reclaimed scrap metal. Challenging the perceived nature of its material, the work transforms discarded industrial fragments into a form that appears delicate and organic. Drawing inspiration from branching root systems and the vascular networks of the human body, the sculpture emerges from a dense foundation before gradually dispersing, suggesting both growth and movement as it occupies the threshold between rootedness and release.

The making process became an exploration of transformation in itself. Through welding, individual fragments of discarded steel were brought together to form a unified structure, reflecting the idea that strength can emerge from what has been broken or overlooked. By manipulating an industrial material into something that appears fragile and living, the work questions conventional ideas of strength, revealing resilience not through rigidity, but through adaptation and change.

Through sculpture, The Liminal Space considers connection as an enduring force - between people, between body and landscape, and between endings and new beginnings. It reflects on the belief that transformation is not the loss of what came before, but its continuation in another form, inviting the viewer to embrace uncertainty with trust rather than fear.
